Gentlemen,
In reply to your letter of the Ærd February,
I am directed to inform you that the Government is pre-
-pared to make the following arrangements in cognection
with the carrying out of the proposed works:-
(1). Permite to quarry stone, free of cost, will be
issued, provided such quarrying operations can,
in the opinion of the Director of Public Works
be carried on without undue risk to property
and without likelihood of causing landslips,
Such permits will be subject to the conditions
usually imposed in such cases, including the
deposit of a security of $250, (2). Permite to erect matsheds for the housing of
workmen in the vicinity of the work will be
issued subject to approval by the Director
of Public Works of the proposedbites for such
matsheds and to the conditions usually imposed
in such cases, including the deposit of a
security of $100,
(3). Permits to deposit surplus material on Crown
Land will be issued subject to the submission
of plans and sections indicating the extent of
depositing to be carried out and to the con-
-struction by your Company of such retaining
walls as the Director of Public Works may
require to ensure the retention of such
material
